First Dates restaurant Paternoster Chophouse has moved to Old Bailey

It's one of the best-known restaurants in the UK, although pretty much everyone knows it as the First Dates restaurant. But over Lockdown Paternoster Chophouse in the City has moved from the space it occupied beside St Paul's for the past seven years into new digs.

It reopens next week, if tier restrictions allow, at 35 Old Bailey where the Union Bar used to be. The new space will also have a bar area and large terrace space.

Head Chef El-Shazly El Shazly hasn't changed the menu focus - which is still all about cuts of meat and fish cooked on the grill or in the Josper. Expect to see dishes like a 900g Whole Grilled Turbot with vermouth and saffron and a big-as-your-head 1kg 12-day aged Gloucester Old Spot Pork “Tomahawk” with baked apples.

The wine list focuses mainly on New World wines from California, Australia, Argentina, Chile and Canada with a focus or organic sustainable wineries.

Pretty much the only thing it won't have is Fred Sirieix greeting you - he only works here while the show is being filmed.
