What: LIttle Mercies
In a nutshell: Top cocktail talent bring East London cool to Crouch End
Summing it all up: A trio of top mixologists are behind a new cocktail bar and restaurant opening in the heart of Crouch End. And yes, there'll be a boozy weekend brunch.
Crouchenders should be beside themselves with excitement at the prospect of new cocktail bar and neighbourhood cafe Little Mercies opening. Why? Because the folk behind it have serious clout in the cocktail world. The new bar is a partnership between Alan Sherwood, previously of Scout and Peg + Patriot, and brothers Max and Noel Venning, who are behind one of our favourite bars, Dalston's Three Sheets, and Bar Three.
Opening on Broadway Parade, the dream team are promising to "bring a slice of East London to Crouch End". If you're wondering what that would look like, then it means there'll be a large concrete bar, plenty of exposed brick and a private booth at the back of the bar.
On the drinks front expect "complex, carefully crafted cocktails, using modern techniques". So there's a “Pornstar” which is made with clear Passionfruit Vodka, Pink Passionfruit Cordial, Wine and Bubbles. Or how about a Delicious Sour featuring Cider Brandy, Vodka, Sour Apple, Apple Caramel, Egg White and Cider. Seriously, if you haven't already tried their drinks, you are in for a treat.
Alongside the cocktails they'll have a 12 bottle wine list and a rotating beer menu. Coffee will be provided by Alchemy (you can grab it to take away) and there'll be draft Nitro Cold Drip.
The food sounds worth a punt too. The short evening bar menu features, among other dishes, a Steak Bun with sliced bavette, aioli and confit onions. There's also going to be panko frried chicken with chipotle mayo.
At the weekend they'll serve up a boozy brunch - we like the sound of the Brown Butter Bennie with poached eggs, spinach, brown butter hollandaise and bacon powder.
