Quality Wines opens on Farringdon Road

qchpie

There’s a huge number of independent wine bars opening in London at the moment (something we fully support) and now Clerkenwell’s Quality Chop House is getting in on the act too. Quality Wines, which opened yesterday, will be part of their adjacent shop and cafe and will feature over 200 wines available to either take away or enjoy right there in the shop.

It’ll only function as a wine bar Tuesday to Saturday evenings so if you work nearby and were thinking of a cheeky glass at lunch you’re out of luck. Gus Gluck, who previously worked at Vinoteca, is in charge of the list and there’ll be a few wines available by the glass each day, plus you can also pick any bottle off the shelves at £15 corkage for a full bottle and £7.50 for a half.

You can’t very well have a wine bar without food of course and with Quality Chop House’s chef Sean Searly in charge, we can expect some pretty special nibbles. Gus told us that they are starting simple for now but that the food offering will ‘evolve’ over this year as they bed in. Frankly we’re very happy with what’s already on offer, namely the house made pork pie with pickled walnut. There’s also a fromage blanc and chive dip (a little nod to Boursin), as well as cheese, charcuterie. Here’s hoping Sean’s confit potatoes make it to the menu soon….
