What: BunCo
In a nutshell: Turkish bao chain to open at Monument
Summing it all up: Istanbul bao purveyors BunCo are bringing their take on the bao craze to London, promising non-traditional fillings.
The low-down
Turkish restaurant group BunCo are hoping that Londoners' appetite for all things bao is growing. They've secured a deal on a site in Monument (property agency Shelley Sandzer did the deal) to bring their untraditional take on the bao to the City.
Fillings include falafel with tahini and pickles, crispy chicken and meatballs - but probably their most popular is the duck bao - featuring pulled duck in hoisin sauce. And you can choose between regular bao buns, sugarless wholewheat bao and charcoal bao.
It's a pretty large space on two floors with eat in and take out and they'll also be doing boxes of bao - perfect for office lunches.
