London has its first British small plates restaurant with trolley service, but what's it actually like to dine there?

Central London's legendary nightclub Mahiki is getting a sister venue in Kensington, with a Polynesian-themed restaurant inside called Pufferfish. But will its tableside-seared salmon, champagne-topped treasure chests and tropical cocktails reel in the celebs like its Mayfair branch?

Following up from the success of James Cochran EC3, the chef is bringing his N1 incarnation to Islington's Angel Central. 

We've had a lot of food quarters opening up all over town of late, from Broadgate to King's Cross to Nova in Victoria. Now another is on the way to Bloomberg's new London hub and they've lined up some pretty special new restaurants. And it's all bang in the centre of the City too.

After enjoying Michelin-starred success in Hong Kong, two of the chefs behind Serge et Le Phoque are bringing their ingredient-led French cuisine to London, including their signature scallop with anchovy and fried leek root.

Shepherd Market, Mayfair's charming 18th century square, has yet another good place to eat and drink thanks to  the arrival of Taka, a Tokyo-born restaurant and cocktail bar with tataki, tempura, and other traditional cuisine on offer, plus sake cocktails in the basement bar, if you can squeeze yourself in... 

“We want to keep pushing boundaries,” said Mr Lyan about his new concept bar and restaurant. No problem there then - his new restaurant uses very (and we do mean *very*) creative ingredients in a special all-in-one kitchen and bar, reducing waste and keeping guests on their toes. Expect ambergris, Japanese knotweed and smoked compost carrot on the weekly changing menu.

After a more-than-successful run opening new restaurants up and down the country, Giggling Squid have finally taken the plunge in the capital by deciding to open a branch in South West London.

Whether you call it poke or Poké and there's a LOT of debate about that, the fact is Londoners are getting a lot of new places serving up this Hawaiian dish. 

Opening today in the City is a second restaurant for Island Poké. They've got a few new things to add to the menu for the City branch - namely Poké Nachos, Poké Tacos and a special bowl from Yum Bun founder Lisa Meyer on for the whole of August.
