• Harry and Megan choose Hackney's Violet Cakes as their wedding cake baker

  

  Well today is a red letter day for East London bakery Violet Cakes as Kensington Palace announced this morning that she'll be the baker responsible for the royal wedding cake.

  In a formal announcement this morning, Kensington Palace confirmed that Claire Ptak had been chosen by Prince Harry and Megan Markle to make their wedding cake.

  Got a sweet tooth? Then put this in your diary. Award-winning patisserie chef Will Torrent, who has worked with everyone from Heston to Jamie, is popping up at Harrods. It's all tied in with the publication of his new book, Afternoon Tea at Home. So you can try two of the cakes from his books in The Tea Room at Harrods. The Passionfruit and Chocolate “Jaffa Cake” and the Mango, Lime and Coconut Mille Feuille will be on the menu for £9.95 each.
