Pret a Diner returns to London with Locatelli's "Italians do it better"

Pret a Diner returns to London with Locatelli's "Italians do it better" Pret a Diner is an international roaming dining event that takes over impressive spaces for gastronomic events.  They last came to town in October with the Minotaur Installation in the Old Vic Tunnels. Now they're back again with "Italians do it better", running from 9 May to 30 June 2012.

As you may have guessed from the title, this event is all about celebrating Italian cuisine, and as such has a number of high profile Italian chefs lined up. The whole thing is based on menus by Giorgio Locatelli who will be joining with five similarly Michelin-starred Italian chefs. They are Accursio Craparo from Gazza Ladra, Cristian and Manuel Costardi from Christian e Manuel, Norbert Niederkofler from St. Hubertus and Viviana Varese from Ristorante Alice.

The aim will be to directly compare traditional Italian dishes to more contemporary ones. So, for instance, Craparo and Locatelli will be preparing fishburger & oyster-tonic (seared longfin tuna with mixed seeds & oyster-tonic).

This time, Pret a Diner is taking over the Grade II building 17th century building at 50 St James' Street for the last event it will host before it closes for restoration - giving them the run of the place.  So alongside the restaurant there will also be an art gallery in which Gazelli Art House will display contemporary Italian artists, a bar run by cocktail maestro Tony Conigliaro from 69 Colebrooke Row  and a boutique.

69 Colebrooke Row have come up with four cocktails specifically for the event including Truffle Martini (Beefeater Gin or Stoli Vodka, Truffle Infused Sherry and Dry Vermouth) and Sicilian Sour (Luxardo Amaretto, Apricot Liqueur, Lemon Juice, Sugar and Angostura Bitters).

There will also be a private floor for hire throughout the event seating up to 120.

Pret a Diner's "Italians do it better" runs from 9 May to 30 June. The bar is open daily from 6 pm, and dinner is daily from 7 pm.  For more details, including how to book, visit their website.
