Mark Hix launches pop-up Mark's Bar in Selfridges

Mark Hix launches pop-up Mark's Bar in SelfridgesMark Hix already has a "Hix" restaurant on the ground floor of Selfridges but he's just added a second pop-up for anyone browsing the store's just-launched men's shoe department.

It's much, much smaller than the other Mark's Bars though - as Hix himself says: ""It is great to have the smallest cocktail bar in the largest men's shoe wear department in the world."

Despite being small in stature, there's a good sized drinks menu on offer including:

  • Hix Kix - Morello cherry in Somerset eau de vie with Nyetimber Classic Cuvée 2004 - £13.50
  • Last Man Standing - Beefeater 24 London Dry gin with Antica Formula sweet vermouth & Campari - £10.50
  • Mocassin Martini - Belvedere vodka with Kahlua coffee liqueur, white sugar syrup and espresso - £12.00
  • Merry HIXmas - Vodka, cointreau and quince syrup with cinnamon & cloves - £12.00
  • West Country Winkle Picker - Somerset 3 year old cider brandy and Pomona shaken with Burrow Hill apple juice and lemon - £10.50

Plus there are some snacks too, including Moons Green beer stix (£4.00), De Beauvoir smoked salmon ‘Hix cure’ on Corrigan’s soda bread (£5.50), Ronnie’s chocolate cake (£5.25) and a Coronation chicken slipper (£4.95 ).

If you don't fancy popping to the shoe dept. for a drink, it'll become a roving bar too. Designed by Lee Broom, it's made of "beautifully designed furniture that transforms into an operating bar" so that it can be moved to any part of the store in the future. The three main parts of the bar are a sideboard, a hostess trolley and a tall boy drawer set - all of which can be arranged in any part of the store.

We're totally into the idea of tracking down a roving bar in Selfridges as it might bring us past the Moet vending machine on the 4th floor too.

Mark's Bar at Selfridges is open now in the Men's Shoe Department on the first Floor or Selfridges, 400 Oxford St, London W1A 1AB
