The Dorchester Rooftop proved to be a pretty big hit when it opened last year (although Jay Rayner wasn't a fan). The space was previously a (very expensive) apartment/suite and saw the hotel converting it into a bar and restaurant.
After being closed for winter (it's not blessed with a retractable roof) it's opening up again for the summer where you'll find the main bar of the hotel up there for a residency. That's because the ground floor cocktail bar is getting a big makeover by designer Martin Brudnizki (we'll have more details on that soon). Up here on the ninth floor, they're launching what they call a speakeasy-style pop-up bar and lounge with a brand new cocktail menu (alongside live music). As well as the main outside terrace, they've created a few new spaces inside too.
Drinks include "Fields" - Courvoisier VSOP, Illegal mezcal, Cocchi red vermouth, Clementi China Antico elixir, fig. There will be food too, but it's a lighter menu this time with options like a sourdough chicken and club. Prices, as you might imagine, are a little on the steep side, there's a blue lobster roll with crispy veg, sriracha and Thai basil for £46.
