What's a City restaurant to do when 99.9% of its usual customers are working from home? Well, in the case of BBQ restaurant Walter and Monty on Bevis Marks, they've switched to delivery. Big deal, you might say - but this one does sound a little different.
As founder Alex Kaye explains, their at-home offering is more about reminding folk of the joy of entertaining. So while we might not be able to throw raucous dinner parties for our friends at the moment, that doesn't stop us being able to enjoy a great date night in at home.
To that end, they've created a menu that they reckon "means your home dining experience is foolproof - even the most complicated or arduous culinary challenges take 15 minutes."
Ingredients are bought locally at Smithfield Market and cook in their restaurant kitchen. You can pick a la carte from mains like the North Indian leg of lamb and sides like grilled cauliflower steak with roasted pepper and tomato sauce or opt for themed boxes like this:
Tokyo Night box
- Sesame Soy Side of Salmon
- Wasabi Mash
- Grilled Rainbow Carrots and Shallots
- Wasabi Mayonnaise
- Chilli and Lime Sauce
One useful thing to note is that they deliver from Tuesday through to Friday, so if you have a birthday or special day earlier in the week when most restaurants don't cover, this could be a good option.
