Otto's on the Gray's Inn Road is on many people's bucket list and that's mainly because of the Canard a la Presse - an epic, multi course feast which involves a Heath Robinson-style contraption to squeeze all the juices out of the duck - so none is wasted. Those who have been to the restaurant continue to wax lyrical about the experience. But with such delights barred to us during Lockdown, there's now a chance to go all-in on their amazing duck at home.
From this week they've started doing delivery. The ducks are all pressed to order (the whole process of preparation and cooking takes six hours), with the aim to get the results as close to the restaurant experience as possible. Here's what's on the at-home menu which really is ALL the duck.
- Challans Duck Liver in Otto’s prepared Duck Sauce, Morel Mushrooms, Toasted Brioche
- Challans Duck Breast Supreme, Pommes Soufflées, Otto’s Pressed Duck Sauce
- Semi-Confit and Roasted Duck Leg, Seared Foie Gras and Black Truffle Sauce
- Dessert (optional) - Baked Tarte Tatin, Crème Anglaise
It costs £180 for three courses with that additional dessert course £20 extra. The profits go to keep the team at work, who are continuing to provide meals for St Thomas's hospital - so you can be decadent and do some good at the same time.
