The Ledbury comes top of the Sunday Times Food List

The season for awards is coming to an end, but there's always time for another party. So Michael Caines, Ashley Palmer Watts (who, admittedly, only had to pop upstairs), Brett Graham and more were on hand at the Mandarin Oriental to hear the unveiling of Sunday Times Food List - the top 100 restaurants in the UK.

The list is garnered from Harden's customer surveys and those customers voted for what was a clear favourite in the room as their favourite restaurant: the Ledbury in Notting Hill.

We caught up with Brett Graham after the awards, who told us: "it seems to be our year, the last 12 months.  It's a credit to all those young guys in the kitchen who have to work at a seven day operation - we all work as a team.  There are lots of guys with a lot of passion in that kitchen and it makes my job very easy to lead a team like that."

The top 10, with a good showing from Scotland and less so from London was:

  1. The Ledbury
  2. Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons
  3. Gidleigh Park
  4. Le Gavroche
  5. The Waterside Inn
  6. One O One
  7. Andrew Fairlie
  8. Martin Wishart
  9. Pied a Terre
  10. The Fat Duck

In addition, the awards for best newcomer went to Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, best dessert to Marcus Wareing for his custard tart and to Gidleigh Park for best all-rounder.

The full list of the 100 top restaurants in the UK (with a further 100 beyond that) will be in this weekend's Sunday Times.
