New Neighbourhood restaurant Linnea opening next to Kew Gardens

New Neighbourhood restaurant Linnea opening next to Kew GardensA new restaurant with chef Jonas Karlsson in charge is soon opening just opposite Kew Gardens (near the Coach & Horses pub). Linnea, both Sweden's national flower and the name of Karlsson's grandmother whose cooking inspired him, is taking the site of what used to be Wine and Moussaka. Inside, it's been given a complete revamp, with a new design by his wife Elia Karlsson.

Karlsson's worked at the Orrery and Coq D'Argent and was most recently in charge of the Fifth Floor restaurant at Harvey Nichols. His new solo venture will be  offering a regularly changing modern European seasonal menu. Some example dishes of what could be on offer (which do sound very tempting) are:

  • Starters of Roasted Orkney scallops, Jerusalem artichokes and chicken skin & South coast mackerel tartar, beetroot and mustard cress
  • Mains of Smoked and roasted sea bream, fennel, hay infused sauce and fillet of Dedham Vale beef, creamed spinach, roasted salsify
  • Desserts of frozen saffron mousse, sweet wine jelly, shortbread and warm chocolate and hazelnut brownie, salted caramel custard

Linnea opens on November 5 at 12 Kew Green, Richmond TW9 3BH (phone: 020 8940 5696) For more information, follow them on Twitter.
