hazrajAs anyone who lives or works in Kentish Town will tell you, it's a bit of a wasteland when it comes to decent places to eat out, so Hot Dinners was pleased to spot a promising new opening in the triangle between Highgate and Fortress roads.

Hazraj bills itself as a Chai Latte house and juice bar, but once inside the tardis-like interior it's obvious that there's quite a bit more to it than that. Open from 8am to 11pm it serves up everything from morning coffees and pastries to hot lunches and light bites.

For a reasonable £5.95 you can put together tiffin boxes and they also serve up two types of the Mumbai street snack chaat, a pani puri and aloo papri chaat as well as chutney wraps and salads.

The owner's family apparently have a string of Indian restaurants in town and used to own the now-closed Last Days of the Raj on Drury Lane.

I went to Hazraj yesterday for the first time to try their Chai Latte. As I entered the restaurant I was greeted on a very high level and offered assistance by one of their members of waiting staff.Everything from the restaurant itself, through the lovely staff, excellent service to great tasting food and drinks made me want to come back soon. I went there to get a Chai Latte to take away and ended up having my Chai Latte(the best I ever tried),Mango Lassi and two of Naan bread filled with coconut and almonds-everything was terrific.

I highly recommend Hazraj, the chai is excellent and the pani puri is the best I've had. Very high quality food at very reasonable prices.
