Clapham

We take a look at the restaurants and cafes still delivering in neighbouring areas Clapham, Brixton and Battersea.

Clapham Common is about to be the latest in a string of slightly eccentric, ‘fictitious-flatshare’- inspired cocktail bars from The Little Door Co. The aim is to feel like you’ve wandered into someone’s home: to embrace the house-party vibe, try some experimental cocktails, perhaps ad-lib some poetry, and wind up as a regular with a set of keys and your own personalised mug.

Clapham folk no longer need to trek into the west end for a swanky seafood experience now they've got this fish boutique and cevicheria on their doorstep.

It's time for a change at Counter Culture, the small restaurant next to The Dairy (and by the same people) which runs regularly changing residencies. This time it's the turn of Alter, for an all-vegan takeover. Alter is founded by Andy Hogben, who has previously worked at Dabbous, Som Saa and Kym’s and offers vegan food with street-food influences.

The menu will change over the period, but here's

From today, a new cafe comes to Clapham with Nue Ground. It's from Joanna & Jayke Mangion - co-owners of Clapham Leisure, the people behind WC, Powderkeg, Brickwood and more.

Taking over at Counter Culture, the tiny 14 seat restaurant next door to The Dairy in Clapham, is chef Sam Ashton-Booth, who will be launching ’The Allotment’ from July 23. Sam was most recently head chef at the now-closed Stem in Mayfair, and before that worked at Anglo, Gidleigh Park, and Restaurant Story. Unlike the recent pop-ups at The Counter, he's taking over the space from now on.

As the name suggests, many of the ingredients in Sam’s dishes will

Fresh from their successful residency at Highbury's Mountgrove Bothy, husband and wife team - John Chantarasak and Desiree West's AngloThai are heading to south London for their next venture. They'll be popping up at Robin and Sarah Gill's Clapham restaurants, Counter Culture and The Dairy for May and June.

First up, they'll be taking over Counter Culture serving up their traditional Thai recipes and flavours married with modern techniques and seasonal

The Dairy's next door counter restaurant Counter Culture has been roaming the world in inspiration for its menus. Recently we've had Mexican and Caribbean

They've been to Mexico and the South of France, but next up on the world tour at Clapham's Counter Culture is The Caribbean. Every stage features menus influenced by one of the chefs’ own backgrounds. This time it's Jack Barwick who was born and raised in the Cayman Islands and who won Bookatable's young chef of the year 2017.

They say:

Jack's menu will showcase the very best of the Caribbean with some playful

When a former Natoora director opens his own south London pizzeria, you'd better expect every ingredient to have been impeccably sourced.

By now, Clapham craft boozer The King & Co must surely have one of the London’s most frequently changing kitchen rosters, having just announced yet another residency. This time it’s Malt + Pepper, who’ll be taking the reins for a slightly longer pop-up spanning three months, themed all around everyone’s favourite summer tipple, beer.

Malt + Pepper want to focus on beer as an

Super handy for the cricket ground, this new British restaurant has a serious team behind it, chock full of ex-Paradise Garage and The Dairy chefs.

Changes are afoot at Counter Culture, the counter-and-stools restaurant from the people behind The Dairy (and right next-door to it). They're kicking off a new menu that will change every two months, circling the globe to concentrate on new cuisines each time, and giving them the Counter Culture twist, adding housemade pickles, ferments and cures.

First up, they're looking at Mexican food. That menu

A new pizzeria is coming to Clapham with a creative list of toppings, starter plates, and cocktails - including a smoked chocolate Manhattan…

It's farewell to The Manor and hello to Sorella, a new Italian restaurant from The Dairy group that'll be springing up in its place.
