- Northwood will be Angel's huge new sports bar
Just months after chef James Cochran closed his own sports bar Valderrama's in Islington, another hospitality group are clearly hoping for a better outcome for their new sports bar opening at Angel. Maven Leisure (owned by the same people behind Chelsea's The Botanist and Aviary in Moorgate) are behind Northwood which is going to be opening at the Angel Central shopping centre, next to Birdie's.
It's going to be
... - The Berkeley opens its rooftop pool bar in Knightsbridge to all
We're always on the lookout for a hot new rooftop bar and the one opening up at The Berkeley sounds on point. There's long been a lovely swimming pool and lounging space up at the top of the Knightsbridge hotel, but that's always been reserved for guests only - until now.
From next month The Berkeley Rooftop Bar will be open to all in the evenings, and it has amazing views over central London. There's a lift to whisk
... - Test Driving Larry's - the glamorous new dive bar at the National Portrait Gallery
London has a new cocktail bar that definitely shouldn't be left to the tourists visiting the National Portrait Gallery. We find ourselves very much falling for Larry's.
- Yannick Alleno is also opening Bar Antoine in London
We've known for some time that multi-Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alleno was opening a top-tier restuarant, Pavyllon, in London (they're apparently deep in soft opening mode right now). But news that he's also going to be running a bar alongside that surprisedlu us today.
Bar Antoine, named after the chef's late son, sounds like it might be just the place to try some of Alleno's cooking, without the

If you’re knocking about King’s Cross and looking for a new bar, then why not head for one of London’s major landmarks, the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel (also where the Spice Girls filmed their ‘Wannabe’ video, fact fans), soon to celebrate its 150th anniversary. ...
- These Days are opening an aperitivo bar on Bermondsey Beer Mile
You've got to admire the chutzpah of spritz brand These Days who have picked Bermondsey's Beer Mile as the place they've decided to open their first bar. From this summer anyone in the area who fancies something different to craft beer will be able to head to their aperitivo bar instead.
If you haven't tried any of the drinks before, they're a mix of fruit and organic wine. Opt for Sundown Spritz,
... - Browns Covent Garden reopens with a new Scottish-themed Spey Bar
Welcoming their 50th birthday with a £2.5 million refurbishment, Browns Covent Garden has had quite the refit, with a new art deco look. It's also opened a new drinking venue on its first floor called Spey Bar. And it comes with some fine credentials - the people responsible are behind Quaich Bar at Scotland’s Craigellachie Hotel. That, in
... - Mayha in Marylebone has a very intimate new Bar Downstairs with cocktails and bites
We're already hearing good things about new omakase restaurant Mayha in Marylebone with The Independent's critic Lucy Thackray describing it thus: "It’s calming. It’s compelling. It’s completely addictive."
Now they're about to open the final stage of their offering - a teeny underground bar space. The Bar Downstairs will have just six seats - so get ready to fight for them. The restaurant's 'head of drinks'
... - Oriole Bar makes a (pop-up) comeback at The Hoxton Southwark
Good news for cocktail aficionados, with the return of Oriole, previously one of the World’s 50 Best Bars, to a new location. After closing its doors on New Year’s Day, as a result of Smithfield Market’s redevelopment and the Museum of London’s relocation, Oriole is hoping to summon its former Farringdon fans just over Blackfriars Bridge to The Hoxton Southwark.

You may already know about Side Hustle - but the NoMad London in Covent Garden now has another pretty big new lounge bar in the basement. We paid it a visit.
- There's a Belvedere (+ Daniel Craig) pop-up bar in Selfridges
There's a good chance you've seen Daniel Craig dancing around in the new Belvedere commercial and clearly that's just part of a bigger campaign - part of which has arrived in Selfridges.
The bar will be popping up in the men's shoe department, and yes, they'll be primarily offering martinis (which you may need when you see how much those shoes just cost you). In addition to the cocktail,

... - Angelo Sato takes over the bar food at The Langham's Artesian
He's already a big deal in Soho thanks to Humble Chicken and now Angelo Sato is heading north of Oxford Street to take over the menu at top bar Artesian.
The menu at Artesian plans to be one that Sato says "is inspired by my Japanese heritage, incorporating the likes of shiso, miso, katsu curry and nori." So this should be something of a shift from his chicken-led Soho restaurant. On the menu, you'll
