Just up the road from the Martin Bros' Chiswell Street Dining Room is another Martin gastropub, and this time the theme is a British pub with a "real wine and food focus" and an open kitchen with rotiserrie and charcoal grilled food on offer. As with the Dining Room, it's also attached to the old Whitbread brewery, opened as a luxury hotel from Montcalm.

This new Italian is taking over a classic building in Knightsbridge and is being consulted by the legendary Silvano Giraldin, best known for his exemplary service when he was General Manager at Le Gavroche. Expect classic Italian and there's a separate bar and courtyard too.

Primeur

Barnes Motors, 116 Petherton Road, London N5 2RT

This restaurant on the borders of Islington and Stoke Newington, was the first from the group that also brought us Westerns Laundry and Jolene. As with their other restaurants, there's a regularly changing menu - influenced by Parisian Bistronomy - and it's paired with a carefully selected wine list that's also regularly updated.

Rotorino

The man behind Dock Kitchen is opening his second restaurant in Dalston in Spring. It'll be an Italian restaurant, comprised of local British ingredients and will have a wine bar attached too (from the people behind Milk & Honey).

The menu at Artusi changes all the time, chalked up on a wall to salivate over, and it is always hard to choose from. The dishes match the décor – inspired, fresh, no-nonsense. Italian-inspired, pasta is made on-site daily. One day there might be cacio e pepe, and the next pappardelle with merguez sausages. Meat comes from renowned neighbourhood butcher Flock & Herd.

St John Bakery Room

42 Maltby Street Market, SE1

The custard doughnuts at St John's bakery shop at Maltby street are much sought after, but now you'll be able to sit down and devour them on the spot which will be offering "breakfast, lunchtime savouries, fresh baked madeleines & hot chocolate, doughnuts". Plus there will be a wine shop too.

Brasserie Gustave

4 Sydney Street, London SW3 6PP

This Chelsea brasserie has a lot of respected restaurant folk behind it who have worked at Brasserie St Jacques, The Greenhouse, Brown’s Hotel, The Ritz Hotel, Harry’s Bar and The Arch. Expect classic French brasserie dishes with a lot of trolley service too.

Wormwood

16 All Saints Road, London W11 1HH

This Notting Hill restaurant is run by chef/patron Rabah Ourrad, an Algerian rapper in Paris who used his time there to hone his culinary skills. He worked at Sketch, the Ledbury and Momo before starting Wormwood with his brother Akli. The menu here "spans the Mediterranean, but stands alone in its conformist refusal" so expect mezze/tapas with a French cooking flair.

The family behind the award-winning Walthamstow Spar, neighbouring Eat 17 bistro and cult condiment ‘Eat 17 Bacon Jam’ have launched a restaurant, burger bar and convenience store in a the former Brooksbys Snooker Hall on Chatsworth Road in Lower Clapton.

This restaurant from chef-about-town Jason Atherton offers stylish art deco surroundings with extraordinary views from the 24th floor of skyscraper Tower 42. As is the case with most of the Atherton empire, the cocktails are exceptional (the bar is a destination in itself) and his modern British fare is always on point.

This is the latest boutique hotel from Firmdale (also behind the Soho Hotel and Charlotte Street hotel) with a new restaurant and bar attached - as well as an extensive outdoor courtyard.

Stax Diner

This all day diner will offer all the things that were a hit at Bea's Diner in Maltby Street - including Bea's new signature ‘Onion Blossom’ - a large onion which is cut to resemble a flower, battered in special spices and deep-fried.

The rise of Holborn Dining Room's fortunes is mainly down to the work of their former head chef, Calum Franklin, who made their pies some of the best in London (and also created the Pie Room). Now in charge is chef Liam Fauchard-Newman and while the whole menu deserves praise, you really need to aim for anything pie-related on the menu (there's always a special pie section).

Wright Brothers Spitalfields

8/9 Lamb Street, Old Spitalfields Market, London E1 6EA

This is the third London opening for the oyster and seafood restaurant, following Soho and Borough Market. Expect a similar offering of seafood and oysters at this Spitalfields location - but with a huge seawater tank into the middle of the restaurant stacked with 10,000 shellfish allowing diners to choose their own live crab, lobster or oysters.

Patty & Bun Liverpool Street

Of all the burger joints in London, the one that often gets rated the highest is Patty & Bun. So the coming of their second location is a big thing indeed - particularly as it'll be offering takeaway too.

A pioneer of regional Thai food in London, The Begging Bowl couples ingredients sourced from Bangkok with meat and fish from local suppliers. They press their own coconut cream and make their own bitters and infused spirits. The Kaffir Sour, made with their own kaffir lime-infused gin, is sublime and goes perfectly with their excellent Northern charcoal grilled sausage.

This new restaurant from Ramsay is looking to take advantage of the upcoming redevelopment of Battersea Power Station. Anna Haugh-Kelly is in charge of the kitchen offering a European menu.

This pub revamp sees it being taken over by the same people behind Waterloo's hugely popular Anchor and Hope and has Mike Davies in the kitchen, a young chef trained up in the Anchor family and also part owner of the achingly hip Franks Cafe pop up in Peckham.

This sees Angela Hartnett taking over the site in St James which used to hold Gordon Ramsay's original Petrus restaurant (and where she was Head Chef). Expect "regionally focused dishes, at an accessible price-point, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere – the kind of restaurant I would enjoy eating in every day".

Mikael Jonsson wowed many with his first restaurant, Hedone, but being all the way out west in Chiswick and being rather spendy it was never going to be everyone's cup of tea. Jonsson is one of the partners in this wine bar in the middle of Soho which means whatever you drink, you must also order some bread to go with it.

Salvation in Noodles

122 Balls Pond Road, London N1 4AE

This is a Vietnamese noodle restaurant offering regional noodle dishes from across Vietnam. The menu is split evenly between noodle soup dishes and vermicelli noodle salads. There will also be a social option to the menu to encourage sharing which will be their take on Vietnamese street food favourites. Plus there's a wine list curated by Borough wines.

Polpetto

11 Berwick Street, London W1F 0PL

The second Polpetto from Florence Knight now has room for 70 (the old one had just 23 covers!) and will feature an aperitivo bar and an open kitchen.
