Brixton Village is relaunching its grassroots chef competition, Brixton Kitchen, where the culinary talent of South London and beyond can compete for a chance to win a six-month residency at Brixton Village.
First launched in 2019, the competition famously crowned Adejoké Bakare, who went on to become the first black woman in Britain to be awarded a Michelin star for her restaurant Chishuru.
This year, Brixton Kitchen is searching for “semi-pro” chefs who have successfully run supper clubs, pop-ups, or residencies. Applicants are encouraged to highlight any connections to Brixton in their entries.
In addition to a six-month residency in a prime unit on Brixton Village’s Market Row, the winner will also receive mentorship from industry stalwarts covering topics such as financial management, intellectual property, and marketing.
Brixton Village is at Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, London SW9 8PS. Follow them on Instagram @brixton.village
