Nuno Mendes sets up his oyster cart outside Chiltern Firehouse

There's a new addition to the ever-hot Chiltern Firehouse for those of you lucky enough to score a reservation/opportunity for star spotting.

Nuno Mendes has just set up a new oyster and champagne cart in the front courtyard. They'll be serving three types of oyster a day, two British and one French. At the moment, Maldon and West Mersea Rock oysters from Essex are on the menu at the moment as well as Loch Ryan, Fal and Belon Natives. The available oysters will be ever-changing due to availability and quality and prices will range from £3.50 - £7.50 per oyster.

As for the accompaniments, there will be the house smoky and spicy Firehouse sauce and a Ponzu sauce with dashi stock, rice wine and vinegar. Plus Champagne and vodka to wash them down.

The cart will be in place from February to April, Wednesday to Friday, 12noon - 8.30pm and Saturday & Sunday, 11am - 8.30pm (with blankets to keep out the cold). It will take a break for Summer and be back again in for the September oyster season.
