New and upcoming London restaurants update - week ending 21st Feb

Coming SoonWe've seen some big openings and some big announcements over the last couple of weeks - so it's time to give you all another run-down of the movers and shakers in our Coming Soon page and the accompanying New Restaurants page

Things are changing all the time. We update the page on a regular basis (sometime several times a day) with new (and shifting) dates, new restaurants, soft launch details and loads more. This is our regular round-up, to make sure you're all aware of the latest updates.

First - up, here are the new openings of the last couple of weeks:

  • Polpetto - after much anticipation, Florence Knight's restaurant has re-opened to universal praise, and getting a five star review from the Evening Standard in the process.
  • Chiltern Firehouse - Nuno Mendes opened this much anticipated restaurant at Andre Balasz's new hotel and the early word is that this is one of the first unmissable new restaurants of 2014.
  • Holborn Dining Room - This is the main restaurant in the Holborn Rosewood hotel, coming from Des McDonald (who also runs the Fish and Chip Shop). We were impressed with our first visit on Thursday night - watch out for our Test Drive next week.
  • Camberwell Arms - The people behind the Anchor and Hope and the Canton Arms quietly re-opened this pub which promises to be as big a hit as its sibling pubs.
  • Roka Mayfair - the latest Roka to join the family. Keep an eye out for the next one in Aldwych which promises to add some new things not seen in the other Rokas.
  • Avenue - D&D's latest completely relaunched yesterday.
  • Boom Burger - Jamaican burgers in Notting Hill
  • The Fable - a fairy tale themed bar and resrtaurant in Holborn
  • Lobster House - a new seafood restaurant in Wansdworth

See more of all of these in our New Restaurants page.

As for upcoming restaurants, there have been plenty added to the list in the last couple of weeks, including one from James Lowe that promises to be one of the most talked about openings of the year. The new additions include:

  • Lyles - James Lowe's new Shoreditch restaurant, with as great a focus on its coffee as its food and drink, should be a massive hit according to the interest our exclusive announcement received.
  • 300 year old pub the Cat and Mutton is reopening from the people behind Ruby's in Dalston and with food by Licky Chops too.
  • The Town Hall Hotel revealed details about the restaurant that will replace Viajante, with backing from Jason Atherton.
  • Bea Vo (of Bloomsbury) is planning a new diner to open later this summer called Stax, with a preview of its burger next month at a Burger Monday event.
  • Jamaica Patty Co is a new fast food restaurant coming to Covent Garden
  • Poppy's Place in Fulham is a new neighbourhood restaurant coming from the same family as Rowley's
  • Another neighbourhood restaurant, Edwins, is opening above the Trinity pub in Borough
  • A popular pizza place from Margate, GB Pizza, is coming to Exmouth Market
  • Spanish restaurant Bravas Tapas is heading to St Katharine Dock
  • Shoryu is opening a new ramen takeout joint on Air Street.
  • Rawduck is finally coming back to Hackney

New dates and updates - we've updated a few restaurants with opening dates and more. We'll expect to confirm a lot more dates for March next week.

  • Dalston noodle restaurant Salvation in Noodles is now hoping to open on February 28th.
  • The hoardings have already gone up and it looks like the Granger and Co in Clerkenwell will be opening post Easter.
  • The bar at the Brindisa Food Rooms in Brixton has been pushed back. We're still awaiting a new confirmed date.
  • The Big Easy BBQ and Crabshack in Covent Garden is due to soft launch on March 10th - with the full launch on the 17th.
