Mark Hix Lyme Regis restaurant pops-up at Selfridges for one month

If all the recent glorious weather has you hankering for a trip to the seaside, let restaurateur and chef Mark Hix bring the beach to you with his Lyme Regis restaurant pop-up at Selfridges next month.

It's all part of the store's Project Ocean, aimed at raising shoppers' awareness of the issue of over-fishing. 'The views from the restaurant might not be the same as Lyme Regis,' says Mark, 'but we’ll be cooking the dishes that we do in Lyme, celebrating local producers and seasonal produce from the seashore. I might even put some seaside sounds and seagulls on the ipod.  We’ll add a bit of fishy drama to the event.’

Hix's Oyster & Fish House will run from 11 May to 12th June with such delights as whole Portland crab with mayonnaise, steamed rock mussels in Burow Hill Cider or Newlyn Hake with cockles and alexanders on the menu.

There'll also be a special sustainable fish supper at Selfridges on Wednesday 25th May at 7pm with Val Warner, Mitch Tonks and Hix himself presiding. Tickets cost £60 per person for a 3-course menu and half a bottle of wine. For tickets, and reservations for the pop-up (lines open on 3 May) go to http://www.hixatselfridges.co.uk/reservations/
