Chefs gather at The Connaught for Helene Darroze's Galette des Rois party

galetteThe Connaught hotel last night played host to pretty much the greatest gathering of foodies in one place since the OFM Awards. The bar was crammed with chefs and restaurateurs all there to celebrate the Galette Des Rois with the hotel's chef Helene Darroze.

Somehow Hot Dinners managed to swing an invite which meant an evening spent circling the martini trolly and scoffing some seriously good canapes. Chefs we spotted included Jeremy Lee (Quo Vadis), James Knappett (Kitchen Table) all the chaps from The Clove Club, Raymond Blanc, Clare Smyth (Restaurant Gordon Ramsay), Nathan Outlaw and Fergus Henderson.

Also there was Simon Rogan, who's spending more of his working week in London as he gets closer to opening his new restaurant at the Connaught's sister hotel Claridges. We also had a cracking chat with Sarah and Robin Gill from the Dairy in Clapham and too many others to mention.

Star of the show was the galette itself - a special cake baked in celebration of The Epiphany. Sadly we didn't manage to find any of the charms baked into them. Next year...
