Balham's Milk to open in the evening with Milk Lates

Balham's Milk to open in the evening with Milk Lates

If you're a Balham local and have spotted the rather impressive refurb popular cafe Milk has just had (they bought the shop next door and have more than doubled in size) you'll be pleased to hear they're now planning on opening in the evenings.

Milk have brought in an impressive team to run the evening service. Their new Head Chef William Blackmore comes here via The Providores and Roka and the sommelier's CV includes time with Nuno Mendes at Viajante.

The food menu will feature a mix of starters, mains and sharing plates. The food will be super-seasonal and local where possible. Owners Julian and Lauren forage herbs and wild flowers themselves from the banks of the River Wandle in Wandsworth.

Dishes are still being worked on, but you can expect something like Fried chicken skin, hot sauce and smoked honey; beetroot, hay smoked goats curd, hazelnut and wild blackberry and crystal fried whole pigeon with wild blackcurrant salt.

Sommelier Christophe Richelet has put together a list of natural wines to go with the new evening menu as well as Kernel beer and Heron Valley cider.

The Milk Lates menu will be served from 6pm, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at Milk 18-20 Bedford Hill London SW12 9RG from mid September. No reservations are taken. Keep up with their news on Twitter @milkcoffeeldn.
