This is the Holloway home for critically acclaimed Malaysian laksa specialists Sambal Shiok, headed up by Mandy Yin. The laksa is great, but so are all the other dishes. Look out for regular events there and enjoy the wine list with a focus on Riesling.

Roti King has established a huge reputation from a small restaurant in Euston. It's regularly lauded as being one of the best Malaysian restaurants in town and has attracted many to its subterranean location. Certainly expect some of London's best rotis as well as great lentil curries and spicy noodles.

Coming from a family of well known Hainanese chefs it's no wonder head chef Danny knows his way around a good laksa. They also have a special vegan menu.

The original Zheng in Oxford has been a big hit, and now they've opened a second restaurant in Chelsea. Expect pan-Asian cuisine with a particular focus on Malaysian cooking.

Sedap means delicious in Malaysian and the consensus so far is that this Old Street restaurant delivers on its name. Owners Yeoh Teng Chye and Mary Yeoh were last seen in the kitchen at Notting Hill's Nyonya.

There's always room in a Londoner's heart for a joint serving ethnic food at competitive prices, slap bang in the middle of town, with barely an ounce of energy given over to customer goodwill. Surly or even aggressive service in the case of Soho veteran Wong Kei, can be forgiven if the food is good, and it is at Rasa Sayang.
