Following the opening of Nela, which proved to be a big success, the next opening at The Whiteley in Bayswater is incoming. This time it's Whiteley’s Kitchen, Bar & Café (named after the store that was once in this spot), which is opening as part of the Six Senses London hotel.
This restaurant is being billed as a British restaurant that's also "vegetable-forward". So that nmeans that it's not completely vegetarian, but there will be a lot of veggie options on the menu. In practice, that means dishes like:
- Charcoal-grilled Suffolk pork enriched with shio koji and mustard jus
- Handmade gnocchi with cavolo nero, Stilton, and toasted English walnuts
- Salt-baked English pear served with rooibos-infused crème légère and house-made crumble.
Fermentations will be a big part of proceedings and they'll even have a fermentation lab in the kitchen.
There's also a separate bar here, and all the cocktails on offer can be seeved either with or without alchohol. Thety'll include the Clouds Over Islay, with Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie, house-made amazake soda and lemon hydrosol. As fo rthe wine list, that's been put together by Eugenio Egorov, who happens to be a judge for the Decanter World Wine Awards, so there should be a decent list here.
Finally, it'll also be open as a cafe in the morning, with all breads and viennoiseries made in-house. So if you're in the area, this will be a handy new bakery.
Both Nela and The Park proved that there's definitely an audience looking for new food and drink spaces in Bayswater, so this could end up doing very well.
