After seven years on Pavilion Road, firsmonger and wine bar The Sea The Sea is getting ready to move to a bigger spot - but it's only moving just across the road.
They'll be taking over the space that used to be Wulf & Lamb, and that's giving them a whole new room upstairs that's going to be their new seafood bistro. In charge of the bistro is chef Nick Marsden whose previous credits include Dovetale, Pitt Cue and The Laughing Heart. Up there, things kick off with oysters, to which you'll be able to add caviar for £1 a pop. As for the rest if the menu, that includes:
- Pickled Fowey mussels, sunsweet melon, lovage
- Confit sea trout, white asparagus and mustard greens
- Skate wing, Trombetta courgette, nettle and Gordal olives
- Whole plaice, braised punterelle, broad beans and mint
As for desserts, the one to have seems to be the potato ice cream, preserved spruce and smoked eel. It's not a combination we've ever seen on a dessert menu, that's for sure.
Downstairs, the retauil space wil be bigger, adding things like a seaweed counter. But most importantly, it will be changing to a wine bar in the evening, just like the original. There will be just 10 seats inside, mind, but a big terrace outside too.
