Nora sees the team behind Beam opening a modern Turkish restaurant in Canary Wharf

Nora is a modern Turkish restaurant in Canary Wharf from the cafe Beam team

They have four Cafe Beams across London, but now the brothers behind Beam, Ozgur and Sidar Akyuz, are getting ready to open something new. Nora will be a modern Turkish restaurant in Canary Wharf.

In charge of the kitchen here is Daniel Alt. He used to be Executive Head Chef at The Barbary, so that should be a good sign of what to expect here. Daniel and his team will be baking breads like sesame and caraway pide or grilled bazlama in-house, with dips including hummus with house sucuk and pine nuts. Elsewhere on the menu, you'll find:

  • Spiced lamb börek with sivri pepper yoghurt
  • Hellim, smoked olive oil and epping honey
  • Crab rice dolma, preserved tomato, white carrot foam
  • Leek manti with hen of the woods and aged kaşar cheese.

You'll also find adana köfte kebabs on the grill, along with big 1kg sharing plates of ex-dairy beef rib and line-caught turbot. As for desserts, the must-haves look like the künefe with orange blossom or the walnut baklava with pistachio and fig leaf cream.

There's nothing quite like this in Canary Wharf, so we can see Nora doing rather well over there. Will they roll it out like Café Beam? We'll have to see.
