For as long as we can remember, the food on Eurostar's Business Premier has been provided by Le Manoir's Raymond Blanc. However, recently, Eurostar has had a bit of an overhaul, changing its travel classes and what was Business Premier is now simply Eurostar Premier. Ultimately this is because it's essentially first class on the train, and not just about business travel. And with that change, there's also been a big update of their food offering.
We were heading over to Paris anyway (more on that soon) so we happened to try out the new menu during its first week in action. It's now divided into amuse-bouche, a main course, a cheese course and dessert. The menu will also be changing every week.
Stepping up to the mark on the first two elements of the menu is Jeremy Chan from Ikoyi, one of only two restaurants on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list right now, and one of London's few two-Michelin-starred restaurants. He's joined by French pastry chef Jessica Préalpato, once named Best Pastry Chef in the world by the World's 50 Best.
On our trip, that translated into this:
With the menu changing every week, other dishes in the first few weeks of operation have included a main of confit lamb shoulder, pearl barley and carrots and a dessert of citrus and green cardamom baba.
The one thing we didn't get to try was the new wine list, which has been created by one of London's top sommeliers and wine experts, Honey Spencer. Spencer is one of the couple behind the excellent Sune in Broadway Market. That will launch soon, with her wine choices feauturing a Château La Mothe Dubourg Bordeaux and a Domaine De La Dourbie, Oscar, so it'll be well worth trying out the new wines when they're available.
The new experience is available now - but the best way to see it is watch us experience it ourselves:
