20 Berkeley becomes Niju Japanese grill and sushi bar, with Endo Kazutoshi more involved

20 Berkeley is becoming Niju Japanese grill and sushi bar, with Endo Kazutoshi getting more invoved

After nine months, things are changing at 20 Berkeley Street. The restaurant there originally opened as 20 Berkeley, a British-influenced brasserie from the Creative Restaurant Group, which runs Endo Kazutoshi's restaurants, and got some pretty good reviews too. But it seems that wasn't enough and now it's about to get a relaunch, pivoting to something quite different.

Now called NIJU - Japanese Grill & Sushi Bar, it will be moving to a style that's much closer to Endo's other restaurants. The menu will change to "Katei Ryori" cooking, which means "home-cooked food" in Japanese which they're describing as "informal yet decadent". The new kitchen team are Head Chef Chris Golding and Head Sushi Chef, David Bury, the latter was previously at Endo's popular Notting Hill restaurant, Sumi.

The exact details of the menu are yet to be revealed, but we do know that Endo will be adding dishes himself. We'll keep you posted.

One thing that does seem to be staying put is the downstairs cocktail bar Nipperkin, which we were rather impressed with on our visit, and that will have a new addition to the menu of Japanese-influenced sandos.
