Mayfair's The Windmill opens up for pies and more on the terrace

Mayfair's The Windmill opens up for pies on the terrace

We're getting ever nearer the hallowed day when we'll be able to eat inside again - but one London pub just can't wait any more. The Windmill in Mayfair is opening up its hidden away terrace space tomorrow for a preview launch of its new menu.

Dominic Rowntree (@samphireandsalsify) will be in charge of things and their frankly wonderful pies will be back in addition to a brand new menu by new head chef Giovanni Finco. Jay Rayner described those pies thus: "A pastry shell that cracks to reveal that it has been properly filled with solid lumps of braised beef and kidney in a gravy as deep as any James Joyce novel."

Of course, the pub will be properly back in action from 17 May.
