It's not Chick n Sours - yet - but if you've been hankering for some of Carl Clarke and David Wolanski's superlative fried chicken, then the re-opening of Chik'n on Baker Street should do the job. They're back up on Deliveroo now, with the usual burgers and tenders including:
We've already put their DIY burger kit through the paces (you can read all about that here) but if even that's too much work, you'll be pleased to know that Patty & Bun are next up on the London restaurant comeback trail.
They've just re-opened three restaurants for delivery
Tonkotsu is coming back! Yes, that's right, if you've missed their excellent ramen, chicken kara-age, gyoza and so much more, then you'll soon be able to order it for delivery. They're starting with the Haggerston branch for now (which will be staffed by people who live close by), and will review how that goes before launching more branches.
Update - more London stores are about to open.
After opening 10 Prets across London, they're about to launch a further 20. Opening on Friday 1 May, they'll be available on Deliveroo and Uber Eats, as well as for takeaway. So if you really need a Super Club and a coffee - here's where to go:
They may not be back completely, but Smokestak will be returning every Saturday for the next few weeks and they're doing it in style. After a trial run last Saturday, they'll be back every week with a menu that sees them going back to basics with old-school barbecue action.
Here's what's on the menu. The first four meats are by the 100g and we want all of it, frankly.
Updated 23/4/20 with more branches
During Lockdown, the KFC Twitter account has been busy encouraging devotees to have a go at their own homemade fried chicken (look for the #ratemykfc hashtag). Presumably, this is to help people get over the fact that all of the KFC restaurants were closed.
The great reopening continues with Bone Daddies about to join the ever-growing list of restaurants that have managed to switch to delivery while their venues are shut. Bone Daddies certainly has its army of loyal supporters, so if you've been missing their ramen or Japanese ‘soul food’ dishes, the very best of those are coming straight to your door with
This is not a drill. Nando's are starting to reopen their restaurants.
Last night, Nando's revealed to a customer that they had quietly reopened seven restaurants in the UK and Ireland - four of them in London.
Having initially opened to "support the NHS and local charities" - they have so far delivered over 10,000 meals to those - the restaurant chain was using that to see how
Over the past year and a bit, the Big Mamma restaurants Gloria and Circolo Poplare have become huge hits in London. But while it might be a little time before everyone packs into a restaurant like their massive Fitzrovia outpost, that doesn't mean that you can't have a little piece of Big Mamma to take home.
During lockdown, both restaurants are being turned into a mix of deli and pizzeria as a
Another much-appreciated local bakery-cafe has reopened for business. This time it's the turn of Rye by the Water in Brentford, which is backed by The Dairy's Robin Gill and Dan Joines. Back in the bakery is head baker Janine Edwards and she's currently baking croissants, pain au chocolates, olive and gruyere bread twists and - of course - sourdough bread.
Like many other bakeries and cafes, they've also
Poor old Patron barely got a chance to open its second restaurant in Highbury before the shutters came down for lockdown. So we're pleased they've managed to sort out a new home delivery service at both their original Kentish Town restaurant and the new Highbury location.
The Maison Patron menu does sound
One of the Test Drives we did in the run-up to The Lockdown, was the rather wonderful Wild Tavern in Chelsea, from the same people behind Goodman and Burger & Lobster. Like many other restaurants, they've been closed since lockdown began but now they've emerged once more, kicking off a takeaway
Originally set up as a supperclub by owner Camille Tardieu, with southern European food inspired by her Sicilian and Provencal grandmothers, Ceres has been a popular Stoke Newington restaurant ever since its opening in late 2018. But if you've been missing them since they closed at the beginning of the lockdown - then you'll be very pleased to hear that they're on the way
Over the past few weeks, Jackson Boxer has been tormenting foodies by posting pictures of sandwiches he's been doing at his restaurant Orasay for lucky regulars.
But now, he's extending the joy. He's just started a new delivery service whereby you can order all manner of deliciousness delivered to your door.
