Harrods unveils its Fine Wines and Spirits Rooms

harrodsaroma

Over in Knightbridge, Harrods are continuing their massive makeover of their Food Halls one by one and today the Fine Wines & Spirits Rooms are the latest to be revealed.

With the aim to "change perceptions on the world of wines and spirits" they'll be categorising wine by terroirs in an attempt to persuade purchasers to go outside their comfort zone. In keeping with that exploration theme, they're introducing an ‘Aroma Table’ which is described as an interactive table of scents that dissect the senses and guide through the flavours of each grape".

The rooms, like the already opened Roastery and Bake Hall, have been designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio with a distinct 1920s feel - all marble patterned floor and limed-oak timber wall panelling.

As for spirits, top cognac Louis XIII has agreed to open its first boutique outside of Beijing here at Harrods and have installed a digital ‘Century Wheel’ highlighting over 1,200 eaux de vies. On the whisky front there'll be spaces devoted to Suntory, Glenfiddich, Dalmore, Macallan and Glenmorangie.

Of course because this is Knightsbridge and this is Harrods, there's a Champagne room too, highlighting vintages by Moet et Chandon, Joseph Perrier and Dom Perignon among others. And if you're looking for a great present for someone, they'll be offering bottle personalisation with an in-house engraving machine. Got a decent budget and fancy splurging on your own cellar? Well they'll also run up bespoke cellar plans for you. And if you've never actually visited a vineyard, then the Education Room features live streaming to the world's top vineyards allowing you to see wine as it's made.
