Granger & Co

Bill Granger's all-day London restaurant

The famed Aussie chef moved to London a while back and has since been looking for a place to open here. He's settled on a property in Westbourne Grove, looking to run a casual all-day dining space. Expect a similar set-up to his restaurant in Sydney, but with a stronger focus on Asian cuisine.

Terrible service

A decent local with good solid cooking, let down by extremely rude and patronising service from our waiter who was repeatedly obnoxious to the the point that other people on surrounding tables commented on it.

Unless the service is sorted out, this place may well go the way of Pix and others before it which would be a shame.

not quite

everything is not quite right!

the fried veggies were too much, not cut properly, too much oil everywhere

the fries were a bit tastless. the ketchup and the mayo were not the real thing and a bit bland

the burger was good, yet the bun was too sweet and dry... kind of like a powdery broiche that really spoilt the great meat.

the only thing that was quite high was the price... £30 per head for teh above (1 burger each) and a half bottle of wine

i will not be back soon

Great food, shame about service

have been twice now, with consistent results.

A little sharper, and hipper in layout than I might have expected, but its all good. the food is exactly what you hope for: refined comfort food that you want to eat again, and again.

Modern asian flavours, folded into more traditional offerings could be described lazily as fusion but really its simpler than that. this is just food that tastes as good as reads, with little intrusion from unnecessary cheffy technique.

service is really dreadful though, and the no booking thing is painful w**k. if you are going to allow people to queue, you need to manage that queue. it makes impossible for groups larger than 2/3 to really make plans to dine here.

its a very unfamily friendly approach, for a place that should, and does, hold itself out in that manner.
