The original Quality Chop House was one of London's much loved restaurants, so it was a shame when it closed down a few years ago. Now, it's returned under the new ownership of Will Lander & Josie Stead, who have previously worked for St John, Dinner by Heston and Sketch. As Will told us "we wanted to open somewhere focused on great service, simple produce-driven food and very good wine at reasonable prices."

"The Chop House wants its hearty good intentions, with its “heart in the right heritage place”, to carry over its amateurishness in the kitchen. This is food made without much craft or élan, and it relies on its ingredients and the goodwill of its customers to veil the stuttering dumpiness of the dishes." READ REVIEW

"The main event was one of the Chop House’s signatures, Longhorn mince on dripping toast. It arrived without fanfare, or expectations, but it was certainly the star of the meal. It reminded me of eating home-cooked bolognese from a hot pan, and not wanting to share." READ REVIEW

"I wasn't completely floored by Quality Chop House, it is after all just a solid British eatery serving familiar dishes for not very much money, but it slots so happily into the London dining scene it's like it's been here for the best part of 150 years." READ REVIEW

"Great service, great room, great food from a chef who must be loving his work, great wine list (beautifully chosen, brilliantly written) and an owner who comes from formidable stock and is letting nobody down." READ REVIEW

"We don't love our historic restaurants and cafes enough... The new custodians of the Chop House are gleefully aware of the treasure on their hands. It gladdens the heart." READ REVIEW

"The welcome is equally warm for everyone, but the Quality Chop House is probably best suited for people who really care about what they eat and drink, and want to do it in the company of others who feel the same." READ REVIEW

"It's like smart Islington dinner party food; on our visit, mackerel pâté, a dense fish soup, roast venison and chocolate-and-chestnut cake, with cheese costing extra. Uncomplicated and competently done, but a bit pricey; you're paying a premium for the best seats." READ REVIEW
