Marco brings steak to the city
Far from impressing the critics with the pairing of Marco Pierre White and Lanes founder James Robertson, this City steakhouse received very lukewarm praise. As Lanes, it won itself several awards and a decent clientele, but the addition of MPW to the banner seems, if anything, to have been a retrograde step.

"The menu has a chummy handwritten script, but that is the only chummy thing about it, for almost everything we ate was awful in that "someone must be punished" sort of way."

" In short then, it seems that – as is so often the case – the name of a famous chef above the door of a restaurant should be regarded as a warning as least as much as it as viewed as an encouragement."
