Italian Cuisine in the heart of the city
Francesco Mazzei, formerly of St Alban, helms this high-end Italian restaurant, aimed at separating still-employed bankers from what remains of their bonuses. It's expensive, sure, but when the food and the architecture are this good, most reviewers felt it was worth pushing the boat out for.

"L’Anima is a horrid restaurant that serves good food charmingly. It’s a lot better than the customers deserve, and perhaps, one day, it will own its name without irony." READ REVIEW

"Chef Francesco Mazzei's food... is soulful in the extreme, bursting with the vibrancy of (primarily southern) Italian cooking, and worth the slightly eye-watering cost." READ REVIEW
"My own Angus beef carpaccio with homemade pickles was delicious, the rare meat sliced so thinly that it looked pinkly translucent on the plate." READ REVIEW
"Excellent tiramisu, great wine list, very attentive and well-informed service, near-perfect coffee, and a bill only a couple of quid shy of the one Barack Obama will have got for his US election campaign." READ REVIEW

"This is a ravishing addition to the London restaurant scene. If the food isn't quite as spiritual, or as excitingly innovative, as you're led to expect, it's certainly good enough to justify a night out among the City boys and the supermodels." READ REVIEW

"For when food is as good as this, when the sensual and the physical become one, it does indeed transport you to another place. What can I tell you? The for sale sign goes up outside my house tonight." READ REVIEW
"L'Anima is about as expensive as an Italian restaurant can get but if you are up for paying these prices it's worth every penny. It makes you like London better to know that such a place can be created here and, I hope, sustained - even in these times." READ REVIEW

"This new Italian – in the City, of all places – is one of those rare restaurants that just knocks your socks off. Either we were extraordinarily lucky on our visit – it was, admittedly, one of those days when the sun was shining brightly – or this is a very significant addition to the London restaurant scene."
