Mishkin's

Russell Norman's Jewish deli with cocktails

It's Russell Norman's fifth restaurant in just under two years (following Polpo, Polpetto, Spuntino and da Polpo) and this time he's opened up what he describes as a "Jewish deli with cocktails". It's on the same street as the Opera Tavern and you can expect a focus on gin based cocktails, and some classic Jewish dishes given a contemporary twist.

"They’ve embraced the pleasing, comfort-food elements of Jewish delis and ditched the worthy, parve-y stuff... Me, I’m just glad I don’t have to adhere to the rules: Mishkin’s is all the more delicious for the flouting."

"...I love Mishkin's. I love that anyone has bothered. And on a cold winter's day, with the windows steaming up, and the room full of noise and clatter it feels right." READ REVIEW

"I’d like to see more choice of wines -- there’s little here I would opt to drink -- and in the democratic spirit of sharing, I wish the only Champagne weren’t Jacquesson at 60 pounds." READ REVIEW

"It starts off not being very good food and then the kitchen adds its own not-very-goodness. The seasoning is all over the place, usually the wrong place, and everything is whispering when it should be yelling." READ REVIEW

"All (our) questions doubtless dissolve in the evenings at Mishkin's when the blinds come down, the music swells, the gin fizzes and the notably amiable staff stay amiable." READ REVIEW

"It’s fun, it’s glam, the food fills both you and a gap in the market, and the prices aren’t exactly extortionate." READ REVIEW
