Refurbished brasserie in Soho
There are some who'll be of the opinion that if it ain't broke, don't fix it and any attempt to update this golden oldie would have failed in their eyes. But it's true that Kettners was looking more than a little shabby around the edges so the decision to revamp was understandable. Unfortunately the results are not to everyone's taste.

"I liked it. Yes, it's changed - but then, so have I. We all have. Maybe the restaurant's detractors are not mourning the lost menu so much as their lost youth." READ REVIEW
"I wouldn’t say I was actively insulted by the place, but it in no way measures up to its location, history, the promise of its plushness..." READ REVIEW

"At the moment, it’s only for a quick daytime bite – rather than for enjoying the pricier and more ambitious main dishes (which we didn’t sample) – that the ambience of the place seems to any extent suited." READ REVIEW
"[Kettner's once] offered a bargain slice of good living by serving pizza in a chandelier-laden room of an opulence that ridiculed the cost of dinner. In its new manifestation, it cunningly turns that formula upside down by serving faux-peasanty stuff at absurd prices." READ REVIEW
