"For his main course, the soldier chose brochette of veal kidneys with Turbigo sauce. These were served reclining on an opulent bed of creamy mash – you could just imagine them wailing a plaintive final aria before being gobbled up." READ REVIEW

"It’s a shame that one of England’s most bankable restaurateurs couldn’t have dreamt up something more demonstrably English or imaginative or new for one of our finest streets." READ REVIEW

"My coq au vin consisted of, I swear, at least half a chicken, or perhaps cockerel; leg, breast, wing – as I rummaged downwards in the bowl I was convinced I'd eventually hit beak and claws. But the balance of flavours was good; the liquid winey without being acidic, with a pleasingly creamy mash to mop it up." READ REVIEW

"It’s the sheer convenience of the place though, its bubbly atmosphere, and its reasonable prices, which look set to ensure that it retains its perennial all-hours popularity." READ REVIEW

"Oh, sure, it's not groundbreaking but it's a bustling, good-looking restaurant, full of well-dressed, happy, interesting people eating the kind of reasonably priced food almost everyone likes to eat." READ REVIEW

"...I can’t think of a nicer place to sit this spring over a glass of rosé and watch the boys and girls in the street outside smiling gaily to each other and wondering where to go for nosh." READ REVIEW

"The rabbit was flavourless and the lamb a tough grilled steak rather than slices from a roasted leg as implied. Green salad at £3.50 tasted as if dressed with an emulsion made with oil from the fryer." READ REVIEW
