Saf

Eco friendly food in the city

No the name doesn't refer to the restaurant's location (it's actually in the city rather than Saf London) but to the Turkish word for pure. It's easy to say that Saf is a raw food restaurant, but in fact most of the food is either raw or cooked at under 48 degrees celsius. Certainly this is the kind of stuff you probably can't make at home.

"If Saf wants to show the world that raw vegan food can be adapted to serious dining, its ravioli and caviar are a persuasive argument." READ REVIEW

"The most complex flavour came from some smoked fresh tofu glazed with green tea in the “Buddha bowl” (£9.50), which got closest to the taste of the meat-searing “maillard reaction” that stirs the atavistic yearnings, and gives actual pleasure." READ REVIEW

"So, all-in-all, this turned out to be a thoroughly good – if not particularly inexpensive – canteen-style restaurant, with one rather important proviso – you must like undercooked vegan food." READ REVIEW

"Regardless, the point is not whether they should have added meat, but rather whether this is as good as vegan food can get. I don't think it is." READ REVIEW

"But overall, I like it - a testament to its sophistication - the glam cocktail bar dishing out some seriously glorious organic cocktails such as my jasmine pearl Martini, the slick design, the mostly gorgeous staff - and the fact that the food is taken seriously." READ REVIEW
