"The chef, New Zealander Miles Kirby, formerly headed the kitchen at the Providores and Tapa and knows his fusion fare. If there’s a cheerful irreverence about mixing and matching cuisines, there’s seriousness about flavor." READ REVIEW

"Caravan is, presumably deliberately, a catchall name where ingredients and inspiration are concerned, but dish components are put together tactfully and felicitously, with a rationale that has reference to taste buds and memories." READ REVIEW

"It’s all too exciting-looking. The hectic list of ingredients – from falafel to sourdough, polenta to merguez, tahini to jalapeño to sumac – hints at the dreaded fusion but it generally acquits itself pretty well." READ REVIEW

"The 'Caravan fry up' is one we'd return for: a plateful of crisp streaky bacon, sweet roasted tomatoes, two eggs cooked to your liking, sourdough or wholegrain toast and, curiously, 'creamy soy mushrooms' that packed double the umami factor." READ REVIEW

Caravan may be informal all-day type affair, but the quality of the food, wine, coffee and service belie this apparent casualness. Everything seems to be reasonably-priced, which makes it good value for money. I've eaten at Caravan a few times now; I could set out a couple of niggles, but they're minor and greatly outweighed by everything else. Great summer drinking spot too.
