Eco-friendly dining by the Regent's Canal
It's fine to be preachy about the environment when your food is as delicious as this restaurant's sister site, Acorn House. Sadly the food at the Shoreditch outpost of this eco empire failed to inspire most critics.

"Unless the prices are lowered, this is definitely a destination restaurant, but at the moment it doesn’t offer anything special enough to warrant a return visit." READ REVIEW
"I'd like to think Water House is a future direction for many restaurants, but it's not a model without glitches. Like sibling Acorn House, the sentiments are great, but the actual cooking needs more attention to detail." READ REVIEW

"What makes Waterhouse so impressive - I would even say important - is that all the other virtuous stuff underpinning this chocolate tart, the saving-the-planet stuff, is allowed to sit quietly in the background behind the quality of the food." READ REVIEW
"But - here I really am going to come over all silly restaurant critic - is there really much point in a restaurant that is carbon-neutral if it is also culinary-neutral?" READ REVIEW

"As a restaurant, I like Water House. But it comes across as a bit of a whiz-bang showhouse for the green crusaders." READ REVIEW

"A green restaurant is a contradiction in terms. Eating out is conspicuous consumption, it encourages all sorts of unnecessary emissions, and fun. If you really care about the environment, you eat raw stuff in the dark in a tent." READ REVIEW

"Indeed it's all so nauseatingly worthy, it comes as a right shocker that the food's so good. In fact, from the off (rhubarb bellini, £6), the menu was downright decadent." READ REVIEW
"These men really are are a credit to the catering trade – if not yet to the art of gastronomy." READ REVIEW

"The food was good but unexpectedly profligate with food miles. Speck d'Aosta, burrata, Taggiasca olives, pancetta, pomegranate, porcini, white truffle oil, and seared Paradise prawns (from New Caledonia) all had a part to play in the dishes." READ REVIEW
