The Draper's Arms

Islington favourite gets a makeover.

Former award-winning gastro pub is taken over by Ben Maschler (son of critic Fay). Both pub and menu have had a make-over, the former has been painted an ill-advised hospital bluey-green, and the menu takes St John as its influence with plenty of offal on offer.

The Drapers Arms

We had a truly fabulous meal. 4 different fishy starters - cuttlefish, eel, razor clams and oysters it was impossible to choose a favourite. For main course; a huge sea bass for 2 that could have served all 4 of us, lamb and rabbit. Our only disappointment was the broccoli with anchovy butter and that was only because we couldn't taste the anchovy. We thought £45 per head was expensive until we remembered the 4 bottles of wine plus that we had drunk. We will be back.

Return of a beloved favourite

Welcome return of the back garden at the Drapers. Wine list much improved and well priced. Menu to be tested but lacks a little compared that of old at first sight - St John has the edge if you want offal. Still a favorite in the area.
