Uncouth Manager
Last night I went to Homa with a group of friends and am still not happy about the appaling behaviour of the manager, he is rude, obnoxious and very uncouth. For the first time in years I was so unhappy that I didn't leave a tip for any of the staff and got an unsatisfactory apology when I pointed out that he had ruined our evening.
The food is average, it used to be pretty good when it first opened but has gone down hill since then. I had cod last night and it was pretty tasteless and slightly overcooked. The waiters are also not very good and there were very long gaps (of more than 5 minutes) between different members of my table being served and they also forgot to bring items we had ordered and needed reminding several times.
My advice would be to avoid Homa totally, London has lots of wonderful places to eat, don't waste your money here on average food and rude staff.
We went to Homa for our wedding annivesary, after it had been recommended by a friend. The decor is clean and calming, if a little Ikea-ish.
The staff weren't overly attentive, tending to concentrate on bigger tables but were pleasant enough. Our starters were a little uninspired - mine a fish terrine with a minute amount of dressing.
My husband ordered a crab/pasta for his main and I opted for a duck confit dish, with faro (something you don't see on menus that often and it was a cold October evening so this sounded the perfect comfort food). The pasta arrived and was apparently bland and watery, so was sent back a rich cheesy sauce on gnocchi a perfectly acceptable replacement. My duck was tender, served with lovely greens - but the faro remained literally hard and uncooked little pellets. I chose to stay with the duck so had to wait 20 minutes for a replacement (with creamy potatoes - not faro). When it arrived it was fine but obviously my husband had wolfed down his gnocchi...
So all in all a very bumpy ride for us - slightly softened by the complementary glass of red brought over whilst I was waiting for my replacement main.
