Bombay Brasserie

Indian food in a contemporary setting

A culinary landmark when it opened 25 years ago, the revamp of the Bombay Brasserie had won mixed reviews from critics and diners alike. Certainly the charm of the place remains undimmed, but the new OTT decor and gargantuan bills left a bad taste in the mouth. Better stick to the fantastic value of the restaurant's famed Sunday buffet.

"The venerable waiter hasn't quite got to grips with releasing my black pepper monkfish from its 'newspaper' carapace. I have to sit on my hands to stop myself helping out. On the plate, it has to be released from even more paper – seems like a whole load of fuss to very little effect. Rather like the place itself." READ REVIEW

"The Brasserie won me over but, even allowing that you have to pay for quality, space and all those attentive staff, the bill lost me again." READ REVIEW

"The cooking was mundane, the prices (most notably on the wine list) were absurd, and the kitchen gave the impression that it was manned by snails." READ REVIEW
