Our latest bi-weekly round-up of the latest London restaurant reviews from the top UK critics as they are added to our reviews section. This week, Les Deux Salons gets off to a great start with a perfect 10 from Time Out (which Giles Coren also awards to his local, Kentish Canteen) - with more good reviews for Polpetto, Morito and more...
Giles Coren - Times
What did he think? Particularly happy that there's a decent restaurant in his area and pleased to see that the place is continuing to improve. Choice quote: "I’ve visited once a week since it opened and it has gradually found its feet. Service is now friendly and efficient, not to mention well-informed and Anglophone." Read review

Richard & Peter - Harden's Estimated score
What did they think? Still needs to settle down after their visit on the first week, but showing real promise. Choice quote: "This is a comfortable, quality venue, which - once the teething problems are sorted out – could well become a Theatreland classic." Read review
Guy Dimond - Time Out
What did he think? Accurate facsimile of a French brasserie serving simple food done well. Choice quote: "Recognising good ingredients, then knowing how to cook them properly, is what separates good cooks from the rest and this was amply demonstrated with a steak bavette (flank steak) cooked correctly rare in a Spanish-made Josper charcoal grill." Amol Rajan - Independent
What did he think? An uneven meal, but still one of the best Spanish Restaurants in London. Choice quote: "...it stops just short of being outstanding, spoilt by two weak courses in the middle." Read review

Tinello - overall score 7.5/10 (no change )
John Lanchester - Guardian Estimated score
What did he think? A restaurant perhaps better suited for dinner than lunch, with very professional food that could benefit from being a little bit more "rustic". Choice quote: "This is restaurant food, a refined, polished take on a cuisine that I prefer in its more rustic and domestic form. But that is a matter of purely arbitrary taste, and I know I'm veering dangerously near saying that the problem with Tinello is that it is too accomplished." Read review

Marina O'Loughlin - Metro
What did she think? Simple location and menu that feels at home in Chapel Market. Choice quote: "With the exception of an uninspiring biryani, the food is a joy. You can tell they’re serious when the relishes arrive, no catering pack of jammy mango here but subtle, garlicky chickpea purée, fresh, minty yoghurt and a magnificent beetroot chutney." Read review

Nahm - overall score 8/10 (up 0.5)
Giles Coren - Times
What did he think? Has converted him to Thai food, but feels it's only downhill from here. Choice quote: "It’s just everything was so much better and different from anything I’ve had before. The sweetness of the first mouthfuls, now that I understood it, was welcome, and we begged them to take a free hand with the spicing." Read review

Morito - overall score 8/10 (no change)
David Sexton - Evening Standard
What did he think? Can be difficult securing a table, but well worth it when you have done. Choice quote: "It was more enjoyable eating here than in many restaurants costing three times as much. As much as in Moro itself, in fact." Read review

Matthew Norman - Independent
What did he think? First class all round. Choice quote: "It is here that I would like to leaven all the gushing praise with a couple of stern rebukes, because an unblemished paean is horribly tiresome to read (try writing one). But I can’t. With only the most pedantic of quibbles, the meal was flawless." Read review
AA Gill - Sunday Times
What did he think? Not impressed with the food, but loved the atmosphere. Choice quote: "...the food was disappointing, occasionally verging on unpleasant, but the atmosphere is nice, the room buzzed and its heart is in the right place." Read review

John Lanchester - Guardian Estimated score
What did he think? A personal favourite of the reviewer with food that tastes better than the descriptions on the menu. Choice quote: "I should own up and say that I am a huge fan of the Canton and have eaten there half a dozen times in its new incarnation. Two observations: first, I've never managed a pudding there, because I've always been too full." Read review

Otarian - overall score 7.5/10 (no change)
Dishoom - overall score 7/10 (down 0.5)
Richard & Peter - Harden's Estimated score
What did they think? Decent food that's perfect for the area. Choice quote: "The standard of the cooking (like the range of dishes on offer) didn’t strike us as in any way remarkable, but nor was it disappointing." Read review

Marina O'Loughlin - Metro
What did she think? Mainly a shop - but offers some very cheesy fondue. Choice quote: "A cheeseboard comes laden with booty from the boutique: granular comté, pungent reblochon, an ashy goat, all in perfect nick and served with crisp charcoal biscuits and tangy chutney. Cheese overkill? Not in my book." Read review

Fay Maschler - Evening Standard
What did she think? A fine revamp, but the chef needs to be more experimental. Choice quote: "...attentive and elegant service, which prevailed even in the face of, how shall we say, less than impeccable manners on the part of some of the customers." Read review

Marina O'Loughlin - Metro
What did she think? A "hidden speakeasy" that is great fun with surprisingly good feed that could be even better if the chef reined himself in a little. Choice quote: "Given this set-up, you’d expect the food not to be up to much. Amazingly, it’s pretty decent. Chef Marek Novak actually knows what he’s doing and his menu is attractive (and remarkably similar to the one at Lost Society, where he is also the head chef)." Read review

John Walsh - Independent
What did he think? Bland food that doesn't live up to the promise of delivering exciting "never-before-seen dishes". Choice quote: "This waiter, we agreed, was a master at explaining his way round the most thinly defeatist, ungenerous, dull, greyly unadventurous cuisine we'd tasted in ages." Read review
Fay Maschler - Evening Standard
What did she think? Brilliant staff and good food, but a return visit for lunch was rather poor. Choice quote: "Not only the staff were lithe, elegant and possessed of remarkable cheekbones — many of the customers were too. Without wanting to be lookist, it made for a very diverting evening of people watching." Read review
