Our latest bi-weekly round-up of the latest London restaurant reviews from the top UK critics as they are added to our reviews section. Ilia gets a strong new entry thanks to a review from Fay Maschler while Vinoteca Marylebone continues to get raves from all quarters. Kopapa is not so lucky, with a bit of a pasting from AA Gill...

Vinoteca Marylebone - overall score 8.5/10 (no change)

Choice quote: "Toytown tables aside, the experience at Vinoteca W1 continues to be a good one. Staff are friendly and enthusiastic, there's a great selection of wines by the glass and the range of food is interesting and prepared with care."

Marina O'Loughlin - Metro

Choice quote: "...everything we eat in this unfussy, bentwood chair-furnished room is excellent: steamed clams in a buttery broth heady with wine and tarragon; sweet pickled beetroot with soft-boiled egg, herb crumbs and mustard."

Fay Maschler - Evening Standard

Choice quote :"The breads were also unusually high quality. Foccacia would be delivered when it was taken from the oven, we were told, and so it was."

Choice quote: "The result, however, is a quirky and vibrant venue. And it's nigh on impossible to leave without some of Bill’s very nice goodies tucked under your arm."

Tracey MacLeod - Independent

Choice quote: "(Bill's serves) the stuff of every bog-standard brasserie, in other words, with no particular focus on seasonality or provenance, unlike the original Bill's, which built its menus around produce from local farms."

Brawn - overall score 7.5/10 (no change)
Geales

Giles Coren - Sunday Times

Choice quote: "The staff were as solicitous, clued-up and good-looking as ever, the dub reggae was right up my street, the other diners were having a whale of a time. Do believe my hype. This place rocks."

John Walsh - Independent

Choice quote: "I'd eaten, single-handedly, a serious helping of pure pork and a sharing-plate of raw beef. My main course of duck confit with lentils was still to come. Would I explode?"

Hakkasan Mayfair - overall score 7/10 (no change)
Hakkasan Mayfair

Marina O'Loughlin - Metro

Choice quote: "I’ve nothing against the rich (I hope to join them when I grow up) but without wine, we paid more than £150. I repeat: without wine. You could be looking at a ton a head without breaking sweat."

Roux at the Landau - overall score 7/10 (down 1)
roux-landau

Fay Maschler - Evening Standard

Choice quote: "Everything about Roux at The Landau is carefully considered - they could have stopped before the truly weird decision of black napkins for the ladies, white for the men - but despite input from Silvano Giraldin on the wine list it is not, obviously, Le Gavroche."

The Savoy Grill - overall score 7/10 (down 0.5)
Savoy Grill

Marina O Loughlin - Metro

Choice quote: "my pie, a stout beef and onion job that is the shape of the pudding basin it was steamed in, (was) old-fashioned in the worst way... apart from this, the food is good, especially for a place of this scale."

Kopapa - overall score 5.5/10 (down 0.5)
Le Cafe Anglai

Lisa Markwell - Independent

Choice quote: "Kopapa is an all-day place, so whether or not I ever get the urge for mutton and quince stew, I'll definitely come back to try Gordon's breakfast concoctions, and for more of the sweet stuff with a cup of tea in the afternoon."

AA Gill - Sunday Times
2

Choice quote: "This is really disappointing taste association made imprecisely without sophistication. It was like an open audition for competing ingredients as cacophonous and illegible as the room."
