Our latest bi-weekly round-up of the latest London restaurant reviews from the top UK critics as they are added to our reviews section. This week, the long awaited Pollen Street Social gets off to a good start, as does the sherry and tapas bar Capote Y Toros. Spice Market and the Henry Root come in for a hammering.
Susan Low - Time Out
Choice quote: "You could call Capote y Toros a sherry and jamón bar, but that's a bit like calling bullfighting enthusiast Ernest Hemingway a writer: true, but not the whole story." Read review
Nic Buckley - View London
Choice quote: "Whilst the focus is very clearly on sherry... this is still without doubt some of the finest tapas you'll find in London." Read review

Lisa Markwell - Independent
Choice quote: "It's been a slow-cooked curate's egg of a meal. I want to come back to sip a cocktail and eat Dingley Dell pork cheek tapas at the bar. Or save up to make the most of the very good wine list and a simple starter and main in the restaurant." Read review
Guy Dimond - Time Out
Choice quote: "The atmosphere is relaxed, but the effort that has gone into creating this elegant, very metropolitan restaurant is clear. Everything moves with a slick efficiency and confidence both behind the pass and front of house." Read review
Fay Maschler - Evening Standard
Choice quote: "There is so much that is positive about Pollen Street Social. It is brimming over with gastronomic ideas... But the lower ranks of staff need to loosen up and go with the flow." Read review
Stephen Farmer - View London
Choice quote: "Serving food of this quality in a venue that doesn't stand on ceremony should ensure that Atherton not only keeps his legion of fans happy, but also attracts a whole new horde too." Read review

Amol Rajan - Independent
Choice quote: "Executive chef Ben Tish and head chef Jamie Thickett seem to me not only talented cooks but perceptive business brains too. They have produced a menu that will satiate the luvvies of Drury Lane and tickle the fancy of recession refuseniks." Read review

Medlar - overall score 8/10 (new entry)
Fay Maschler - Evening Standard
Choice quote: "A restaurant like Medlar doesn't come along often these days, which is reason enough to hurry there." Read review

AA Gill - Sunday Times
Choice quote: "...seeing as the River Restaurant in this place is so appallingly dire, and the decor so hideously crass, this menu is the small miracle that the Savoy must be grateful for." Read review

Chris Pople - Cheese & Biscuits
Choice quote: "It goes without saying that in this part of town, serviced by a steady stream of undemanding and credulous tourists, where nowhere must have to try very hard to do well, it is all the more heroic that Bistrot Chabrot is serving such excellent stuff at such relatively low prices." Read review

Andy Lynes - Metro
Choice quote: "A shared primi course of seafood ravioli with lemon sauce is a certified stunner; gossamer pasta encases tender flakes of white fish while the zesty emulsified sauce has us scraping the bowl clean." Read review

Ilia - overall score 6.5/10 (down 1)
John Walsh - Independent
Choice quote: "Do try Ilia for its convivial atmosphere – but you may feel you're dining in a club of which you're not really a member." Read review

Andy Lynes - Metro
Choice quote: "The Bosi brothers are within a fox’s whisker of cracking the gastropub formula but more of their Gallic charm would go a long way to making this welcome addition to the London scene perfect." Read review

Zoe Williams - Telegraph
Choice quote: "This is a perfectly pleasant ambience, with perplexingly substandard food. I don't know what they're waiting for: an economic boom?" Read review
