Vineet Bhatia London brings an Indian set menu to a Chelsea townhouse with VBL

Vineet Bhatia London brings an Indian set menu to a Chelsea townhouse

Vineet Bhatia is back in town. The former owner/chef of Michelin-starred Rasoi, is back at the same address with Vineet Bhatia London (aka VBL), creating a luxury five-course tasting menu that follows Vineet Bhatia’s evolution as a chef.

At Vineet Bhatia London, diners will be taken on a sort of culinary journey through the past three decades of the Michelin-starred chef’s life. It will include a nod to the introduction of English flavours and techniques. Vineet said: “VBL is a very personal project for us. It captures everything we have learnt over the last 20 years and celebrates our dual identity.”

On offer, there’ll be nostalgic dishes from his youth in Mumbai, like aloo-yoghurt chaat, followed a bit further down the line by coffee lamb, and white tomato butter chicken. Vegetarians will be offered an equally juicy menu, with aubergine steak and beetroot cashew tikka making an appearance.

The restaurant seats just 32 and in its quiet Georgian townhouse setting, where to gain entry you have to ring the doorbell, you’re likely to feel like you’re in intimate supper club or a members-only clubhouse. But if that’s still not private enough, there’ll be two adjoining dining rooms.

“We have spent longer in this country than anywhere else in the world: it is our home, but of course our cultural DNA is Indian. VBL is a marriage of all we know, of what we’ve learnt and our dual identity and just simply everything I ever wanted my restaurant to be back in 1993,” Vineet said.

The full menu costs £105, or £185 with wines (service not included.)

Vineet Bhatia London will open in mid-November at 10 Lincoln Street, Chelsea, SW3 2TS. It will be open Tuesday - Sunday from 6.30-10.30pm. Follow Vineet Bhatia on Twitter @Vineet_Bhatia
