Shutterbug creperie opens on Rivington Place

shutterbugThere can't be a better time for a new pancake place to open than the run up to Pancake Day. So it's perfect timing for new East London spot Shutterbug, which has been exquisitely described (for those who love a bit of marketingspeak) as an "experimental creperie come intimate cocktail speakeasy". They'll be serving up pancakes, coffee, cocktails, wines and artisan beers from their spot in Rivington Place.

The buckwheat batter crepes come courtesy of Parisian chef Romain Ragouin who has been making crepes in Paris for over 15 years. For savoury crepes expect to see pulled pork with cheese and pickles or goats cheese, spinach, walnuts and fig relish. On the sweet side current popular crepes include red velvet crepe with mascarpone and strawberries and the ubiquitous salted caramel.

The whole thing is the brainchild of Cathy Radojcin and Sasha Rainey. Sasha has run coffee shops for thirteen years and is also owner of Fix Coffee with coffee shops in Shoreditch and Whitecross Street. Cathy comes to Shutterbug via Electric House and Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen.

Shutterbug is also putting on a special Pancake Day Mardi Gras Party from 6pm on Shrove Tuesday (12 February). They'll be serving up special Mardi Gras cocktails and holding pancake races.

Shutterbug is at 1 Rivington Place, London EC2A 3BA and is open Mon-Wed (8am to 6pm), Thurs-Fri (8am to midnight) Saturday (10am-midnight) and Sunday (10am to 6pm). For more information go to www.shutterbug-london.com
